What remains when life unfolds under occupation for more than 80 years ? What survives amid genocide? How do memory, art and collective practices become forms of resistance?
Magnolia Art Residency & Theros Academy 2026 invite the public into a space of dialogue with Reem and Majd Masri, visual artists from Palestine, whose work is rooted in the lived realities of occupation, displacement, belonging and resilience. Through stories, artworks, and personal reflections, they will share experiences shaped by decades of occupation.
Born in Jerusalem in 1991, Reem and Majd Masri were until the age of ten prohibited from traveling beyond the territory imposed by the israeli occupation. Their artistic practices explore the relationship between landscape, memory, and self-perception, revealing tensions between the visible and the invisible, the permanence and the fluid. Alongside their artistic work, both sisters teach art in institutions across Palestine.
Last year, Reem and Majd were unable to attend Magnolia Art residency after being denied visas. Their presence in Eresos this year is a statement of persistence and collective resistance.
